Another Marquee and wedding season draws to a close

It’s been another fantastic year for white Tent events! We have been so busy all summer. We have installed marquees for weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions, food fairs as well as a couple of christenings.
Some of my high lights have been – installing a full white starlight sky in to a marquee for a wedding for 180 guests, it looked spectacular and was emphasised by the shiny full white dance floor (picture below)

. We have also installed a number of full round LED bars into marquees for weddings and birthday parties. They look incredible and give a real focal point inside the marquees.
Another highlight was a marquee we provided for a charity function organised by Marshfield palmer events (www.marshfieldpalmerevents.co.uk) , with some amazing flowers that really brought the marquee to life (picture below)

Looking for something different? Want to make your party stand out from your friends? Here is an example of a marquee we installed recently to inspire you.

White Tent Events recently installed a circus themed marquee for a 21^st Birthday party in Oxted, Surrey. The client wanted the marquee to look different and had chosen the theme already. We advised her that standard ivory linings would probably not be appropriate. So instead we installed blackout walls round the whole of the marquee. We then installed red and black draping hanging off the centre of the marquee roof, to give it a circus tent feel.

The customer also wanted a chill out area for the guests to relax in, as well as a separate dance area, so the older guest could still chat, while the younger guests were dancing. To accommodate this we installed a revel curtain to hide the dance floor until after the meal was finished. When the curtain was lifted it opened up a separate marquee with full starlight roof and a black and white Dance floor. We also installed a separate area with leather sofas and bean bags for the guests to sit and relax in.

The Royal wedding marks the start of Wedding season for White Tent Events

The Wedding between Price William and Kate Middleton tomorrow starts the 5 month period of wedding season. White Tent Events has two marquees out his weekend for weddings as well as a marquee for a 21^st birthday party and marquees for various street parties.

I cannot believe that it is almost the end of January already! As a result it is time to start getting all of the equipment ready for the start of the Season in March.

Inspiration for party ideas!!

During a number of recent site visits, customers have asked me what theme parties we have done recently – looking for some inspiration, so I thought I would write down some themes of parties we have done in the past.

In November we supplied a marquee near Banstead in Surrey, to a wedding with about 120 guests. The wedding had a winter wonderland theme. It was done very tastefully with a ivory linings through out, white carpets, white Starlight sky and a white dance floor. The client also installed a number of props them selves to complete the look.

Two other very popular themes are Las Vegas and James Bond. We recently installed a small marquee at the back of a house in Caterham to add some extra space to the house to accommodate a black jack table and a roulette table. We have installed 007 themed marquees in Westerham in Kent and Woldingham in Surrey in recent months.

Other themes we have done recently include Alice in wonderland party in Leatherhead and a Jungle themed party in Reigate. We have contacts with a number of different prop hire companies, meaning we can source almost any prop for almost any party theme.

Is the recession making brides more creative?

As the recession has hit over the past two years White Tent Events has actually seen a rise in the number of marquees being hiring. However customers have cut back on the amount of ‘luxury’ items they are hiring, opting instead to do their own decorations and frills.

We believe one of the huge advantages of hiring a wedding marquee is that every marquee is completely bespoke. At many wedding venues such as hotels and country houses, there are many restrictions on timings, decorations, furniture and even the different suppliers you are allowed to use. If you hire a marquee for your wedding in your own garden, you have complete control on everything from the layout and type of furniture you use, to the food and catering.

This also presents a great opportunity to save money in these tough economic times. Recently we have seen brides use their own material to decorate the inside of their marquee, use fairy lights they already own to light up the marquees, and even do their own catering, All of which would not be possible at many venues.

If customers wish to style their own marquee, we are more than happy to discuss with them- how to go about doing this and even advice on what we have seen in the past and what has worked well.
